Tree injections and sprays for insect or disease control
Rainbow Treecare will send a certified arborist to inspect your tree and diagnose the problem. After diagnosis, we treat your trees with the right product at the right time to target the problem. All Rainbow Treecare treatment technicians are licensed pesticide applicators. By using products targeted to your specific insect or disease, along with a carefully timed application, we minimize the amount of product needed to solve your tree’s problem. Because timing is the key to a successful treatment, Rainbow Treecare carefully monitors environmental cues to determine the ideal time for the treatment to occur.
Injections for insect and disease treatment
Injections provide targeted protection against attacks from insects like the Emerald Ash Borer, and diseases such as oak wilt and Dutch Elm Disease. The product is injected directly into the tree’s root system near the base of the tree, or in some cases into the soil around the tree. It is then taken up by the tree’s vascular system and delivered throughout the tree, reaching its leaves, twigs, branches, and trunk. The time it takes to complete an injection treatment depends on a variety of factors including the tree’s size, and the amount of product being used. Trunk injections do not allow products to come into contact with other nearby plants, so there is never concern about overspray. These treatments are also highly targeted to the areas of the tree being attacked.
Spraying trees for insect treatment
Spray treatments are used for difficult to control pests and diseases that cannot be targeted by injections. With safety as a primary concern, our spray applicators look a bit like “Visitors From Outer Space” in their protective gear. In addition to tracking environmental factors to determine the most effective time for the spray to occur, we also monitor weather and will not spray while it is raining or windy.
Natural horticultural oil sprays for tree insect treatment
Horticultural oils are a lower-impact approach to pest control and have many upsides. A benefit of using horticultural oils is a greatly reduced effect on non-target organisms, which is useful when controlling a variety of insects and some diseases. Unfortunately, the insect(s) must be present for the oil to be effective, and it must be applied frequently.
