Should You Wrap Your Trees and Shrubs?
Wrapping a small tree or shrub with a lightweight fabric can help prevent sun damage, salt damage or breakage from snow or ice build-up. Make sure to remove the covering before temperatures are routinely above freezing.
- Wrap arborvitae with burlap to prevent damage from snow loads.
- For individual shrubs and small trees, burlap or other lightweight fabrics can be wrapped around the tree in mid-November and unwrapped in late March in Minnesota.
