Prevent rodent and deer injury
Rainbow Treecare will apply repellents on any size tree or shrub to prevent damage from rodents or deer.
Animal damage to trees and shrubs occurs mainly in the winter months when food availability is limited. Animals such as deer, rabbits and voles will chew bark from trunks and branches of trees. In some cases they will chew shrubs to the ground. When the chewing is severe or if it circles the entire tree trunk, it can be fatal to the plant.
- Repellents can be used to prevent rodents and deer from feeding on trees and shrubs
- Use plastic tree guards to give added protection from chewing animals. Make sure to install them at ground level and remove as soon as temperatures start to warm
- Pull mulch and snow away from the tree trunk (provides cover for voles to strip bark from trees)
