Fort Snelling National CemeteryRainbow Treecare again played a major role in sponsoring and supporting the third annual Minnesota Festival of Trees Celebration at Como Park on May 20.  It was a beautiful spring day, interrupted only by a brief bout of showers during the noon hour.

The family event, supported by commercial tree care companies, the City of St. Paul, the City of Minneapolis, and numerous civic, environmental, and agency interests, provided a variety of activities and attractions.

High on the list of activities were: free bucket rides high into the trees along the shores of beautiful Lake Como, the Kids Tree Climb Arborist area (supervised with appropriate climbing gear), the Tree House of Horrors and Arborist Answer Booth, and an appearance by St. Paul Mayor Chris Coleman.

Other attractions included:  Environmental Impact Information Booths, The Kids Parade with the Teddy Bear Band, the Arbor Day Observance Tree Planting ceremony, Native American dancing and dedications, and the annual Minnesota State Tree Climbing Championships (TCC) for Arborists (running concurrently throughout the day).

Rainbow Treecare employees David Kolstad and Niki Lobner competed in the TCC and both finished as runners-up in the Mens and Womens tree climbing events.  Seven Rainbow climbers competed in the all day skills climbing events.

The state winners will advance to the International World Tree Climbing Championships (ITCC), which will be held this year (2006) in Minnesota.  The dates are set for July 29 and 30 in Loring Park, downtown Minneapolis.
